Transform Humanity’s Communal Life

Humanity has grown from small bands of people, 150 strong, into sprawling communities where the majority of people struggle to feel ingrained in our society. We are disconnected, scattered and barreling toward a future where the majority of us are fully reliant on our online selves to fulfill our human need to simply belong. The junction between our physical communities and the people within them is breaking.

This is comes off as quite dark. But by delving into our Indianapolis community I have seen the beautiful actions of those who uphold their civic duty and make the place they reside better every single day. More inclusive, more sustainable, more equitable, more secure, more fun & more communal. These actions & ideas are what I aim to foster and spread widely.

When you are lost in the depths of the online noise it is easy to feel like people are contributing more to the digital world than the physical one. This, unfortunately, is a notion that is contagious in the minds of all of us. It makes you want to check another app, sit on your couch a bit longer, think more about posting a picture than getting up and being an engaged local.

In comes Spoke Locally. A platform designed to speak for the physical world. Easy access to information about communal happenings, straight from our Civic Leaders. Local Organizers, Local Storefront Owners & Philanthropies. It is the real SOCIAL media with the specific purpose of accenting the world outside your door. We prioritize giving Value over taking Time. No followers or attention sucking algorithms. With only your location and a proactive mindset, You can feel like a local anywhere and engage with you community in a meaningful way.

This is my first step towards Transforming Humanity’s Communal Life in a more meaningful direction. Why me? Well, it’s an idea that has called to me, and the more I learn, the more I understand how essential it is. I never want to feel untethered. I never want to miss out on all the day has to offer. I have a hunch that others feel the same. It’s an attraction with strangers and the public spaces where I run into them. I love it, public spaces are where I have found the most intriguing and engaging of situations and I want others to be compelled to experience happenstance in their community.
